| Joe I. Herbsman Rose Garden contains a
collection of old-fashion roses displayed in a low care, wheelchair accessible
garden. This informal garden invites visitor to stroll through the winding
paths. We donated over 200 roses, design time and labor for the construction of this garden. A donation from Barbara Herbtsman in memory of her husband, allowed the purchase of materials which included 66 yards of concrete and rental of a backhoe to move an estimated 200 tons of limerock boulders. With the help of local businesses and scores of volunteers, we were able to build this garden in six weeks on a very tight budget. |

We used the spoils from the sidewalk excavation to create a rolling landscape
on a grassy spot once used for overflow parking. The roses we used are
all repeating bloomers which require minimal care, no spraying and little
pruning, We interplanted the roses with flowering perennials, and woody
ornamentals, creating a garden of constant color and beauty. |

| Red groundcover roses line one bank of the ponds
and waterfalls constructed from rock and concrete. Two submersible pumps
move the water up from the bottom pond to the waterfalls. An automated fresh
water supply keeps the ponds filled to the correct depth. |
